Restaurant Property Round-Up

An insight into some of our deal highlights from the past month

This month, we spoke to Gabriella Sether, Surveyor focusing on Central London Acquisitions and Sales, about one of her most recent deals. Halal Guys, an American casual dining chain serving hot sandwiches or platters made with beef, chicken or falafel was looking for a second London location. They plan to expand to 20 locations throughout the UK in the next five years, so securing a second site was an important step and one that relied on the perfect property.

Gabriella and Restaurant Property identified a site in Earl’s Court that was previously occupied by Gourmet Burger Kitchen. “This prominent corner unit with close proximity to the tube station, excellent footfall and very good frontage is circa 1,800 sq ft over the ground and basements floors,” says Gabriella. “All of this made it the ideal property for Halal Guys - it was exactly what they were looking for.”

Jack Coats, Surveyor focusing on Sales and Investments Central London and inside the M25, handled the transition between Bean & Wheat, an Adam Handling concept in East London, and Donburi, an independent Korean BBQ restaurant. This 517 sq ft site originally had a café-cum-deli style set up but will now be more of a grab-and-go with a predominantly lunch and dinner offering.

The premises itself is right by the London Fruit and Wool Exchange, which has 260,000 sq ft of offices and 40,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant and community space. Jack confirms, “This is the perfect spot for Donburi, with high footfall and in a busy office district. The restaurant will continue to benefit from the ever-evolving Liverpool Street and Spitalfields areas.”
