January 2020 saw the opening of Greek inspired restaurant, Ampeli which translates to “Vineyard” in Greek. Opened by founder Jenny Pagoni, this 80 cover site features dishes inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean, including dishes inspired by some of Pagoni’s family recipes. These mouth-watering dishes can also be accompanied by a list of indigenous wines from across the Greek mainland and its islands.
The team behind Ampeli have a lot of experience under their belt, with Chef Oren Goldfield heading up the kitchen having previously worked at Nopi, Brother Marcus and Tel Aviv’s acclaimed Toto Restaurant.
Gabriella Sether, surveyor at Restaurant Property who acquired the site on behalf of Pagoni, said “Charlotte Street is the leisure hub of Fitzrovia and is a great new addition to the neighbourhood, neighbouring Norma, Roka, Pied de Terre and The Ninth. Ampeli offers a buzzy atmosphere with a warm and inviting interior along with extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes I ordered and would highly recommend the Barrel-aged Feta Sagnanaki, and the melt in the mouth braised short rib.”
Ampeli is now open, so head on down!
